home is where the crowd is.
when you have no family in a place you call home, what then do you consider home to mean? what provides that sense of home to you. for anyone in search of said feelings, tonight was a night that would have given you your sense-of-belonging fix. i gathered with a countless number of fine souls who convened in one strip of sparse grass for one main reason: to listen to music. i watched them all. some drank wine from plastic glasses while passing guacamole that had started to turn, others ate homemade brownies from shiny tinfoil, some fancily bit cubes of pineapple from wooden skewers, couples held hands and small children with knotty hair grabbed one another and jumped around in unison. if i were alone, if i were feeling no sense of home, this is where i'd want to be. with the breeze came warmth: the collective body heat produced was comforting. i didn't know one neighbor from the other, but we were all smiling, all enjoying ourselves and not questioning what would otherwise be an invasion of personal space. for once, this invasion was welcomed. if the dictionary could have images next to the word home, this would be in full color upon that page. and one of the more pronounced synonyms for home would be community.

staple guns, chicken-head wine and zippers.
who knew craft night could be so much fun? me and my gal started our crafty adventures this afternoon at buffalo reuse's store ReSOURCE to find some window frames and other recycled hardware for future projects. then it was on to snatching up sushi, a few bottles of wine and starting the night with some good jams. we've had some crafty ideas we've been meaning to wrap up and tonight was the night. awhile back we had visited good ole jo-ann fabrics for some finishing touches to ideas-in-the-works, and while we were at it we found some new projects to add to the list, too.
tonight, i set out to create my long anticipated jewelry boards, made from ikea trivets and some simple cream, linen fabric. i finally got to use my staple gun, and boy did that feel good. then it was on to making flower pins out of zippers. all in a crafty-gals' day, er, night of work. ;)
BAM. BAM. BAM!!!
the flower pin making was fun. i'll admit, i'm not sure if i'm quite the flower-pin-adorning type these days, but it was a fun challenge to create something out of zippers.
next project: sanding down the old window frames, affixing some hardware to make them hangable, and blowing up some of my shots to display behind them.

to the woman behind me on the way to work this a.m.
there are two things you should know:
1.) you really shouldn't apply makeup while you're driving, particularly mascara, which is what you were doing, again, while driving, staring at yourself in your rear mirror instead of oh...i don't know...watching the road. i know. it's a novel concept, but really, i think you should give it a try.
2.) don't apply that much black gunk to your eyelashes daily; your eyelashes will fall out.
have a nice day.

photo love.
my current photo love: Lauren Dukoff

i'm starting to wonder if this little site of mine should take on a new moniker of "photos shot." or "moments captured." vs. it's current title: thoughts punctuated. i haven't had as many thoughts worthy of textual display as i've had thoughts to showcase visually. visual representation seems to fit the mood as of late. still thoughts, just not punctuated with the original meaning: to insert punctuation marks. rather these thoughts have become punctuated (accentuated) through images. hmm. i suppose it does still work. brilliant.
